Fluoride is Good For You If You Want To Reduce Your IQ

 
One of the reasons I started this trading card collection of monsters inspired by toxic ingredients in our food, water and households was because I was amazed over how many unsettling claims and conflicting debates are being brought to light about the subject.  I've enjoyed examining both sides of the debate (as well as considering the sources of conflicting claims), but it's left me a bit rattled to realize how many poisons might be lurking out there and what they may be doing to us.  Tap water, I've learned, is the granddaddy of all scary monsters. Seemingly sparkling clear and refreshing, tap water seems appears innocent enough, but many are claiming our tap water is a gurgling toxic mess brimming with high levels of pharmaceuticals, sex hormones, and a certain hazardous waste known as fluoride. The sex hormone part could explain the mystery of the increasing occurrence of Moobs. 

Sure, we've all been told fluoride is added to the water to promote strong teeth, but is it causing more harm than good? Claims about fluoride dangers are wide-ranging, everything from causing damage to the thyroid, to dental fluorosis, the reduction of IQ, to my personal favorite, being used as a dumbing down mechanism for the masses so we can be controlled by the government and turned into mindless zombie sheep.   What's really fun about water is they say bottled water also dangerous for all sorts of other reasons. It would be comical if it weren't so alarming, but hey, at least my pal Bob and I have dozens more toxic trading cards to create. Medium: ink on paper, digital paint. Illustration by 14.

Frankencorn: The Monster Roaming Our Crops

It was created in a mysterious laboratory using frayed scraps of genes from old plants, insects, and bacteria. The mad scientists who conjured up the genetic slurry had high hopes their freakish creature would arise from the petri dish and cure world hunger.  Oh yeah, and also generate massive profit.  The corporate giant that manufactures the stuff, MonSTERsanto, specializes in concocting evil schemes to dominate the Earth's seed supply. MonSTERsanto maintains that genetically modified foods are safe for human consumption, but many many many others warn of the chronic health problems it causes to living things - including humans.  On top of that, these chimera-like food crops are feared to mutate and evolve and could soon take over the world. Be advised there's even a Frankfish coming soon!  It might be prudent to do a little more research on genetically modified foods and make your own decision. Meanwhile, reflect on the insect and bacteria genes mingling around inside your body after you've eaten those corn chips.  Mmmmmm!  Medium: digital painting by Bob Lizarraga, written by 14.
