Hunched over the captive glow of his iPhone, he was oblivious to the fact the server had just delivered his order of "artisan toast". Artisan toast is the hot new food trend in San Francisco. Basically, it's just a slice of toasted bread made from "locally sourced organic ingredients" topped with various fancy sounding accompaniments such as "hand-churned, grass-fed Petaluma butter". It costs $6.95 a slice. Anyway, I also happened to take notice of the cartoon owl socks he was wearing under his snug-fitting black suit. Medium: graphite in sketchbook, digital paint.
Much too well dressed to be a native SF hipster. Which would be more like: pair of novelty socks, lumberjack beard, Ghidorah era eye glasses, multiple knit layers, visiting from the east coast -- pick one.

WTF!!! - I didn't think it would be possible to make pretentious TOAST. Little did I know - I live in Spokane. Wait...oh God, do you think it will find it's way here?

When you have socks like that, you deserve the finest toast.

Sounds like one of Ralph Kramden's Sumo wrestling buddies from the Raccoon club.
